THE WAITING ROOM
(Mozilla Hubs, Unreal Engine, July-Aug 2022)
This solo project was born from the prompt “Portals of Slowness and Care” provided at the An Exercise in Portals workshop from the Factory Media Center in Hamilton, Ontario.
A black and white version of this scene is available to walk through here (Mozilla Hubs).
All of the models in this scene were created using Blender. I used Geometry Nodes to create a variety of different potted plants.
This video was created using the Sequencer in Unreal Engine, and the music was made in REAPER.
Above is a demonstration of quickly experimenting with different palettes using specified Color Curves.
CAMP LAUGHTER
(Unreal Engine, Sept 2021-March 2022)
Camp Laughter is a low-poly, horror-comedy game about escaping a killer infested campground. It was made in 6-months by a group of 7 horror-loving students at UCSC for their final capstone project (with the help of 2 external collaborators). I worked as one of the external collaborators, creating prop and environment models and character animations.
I animated the actions above using Blender. I used both procedural and keyframe methods of animation. The models were provided by the Art Director (Jake O’Neill).
Above are examples of the low-poly environment models I have created using Blender for Camp Laughter.
on your way home
On Your Way Home (Unreal Engine, April 2022-Present)
On Your Way Home is a personal project that was born from a solo game jam. This project speaks to the fragility of memory and works to create a lonely, yet comforting space. It uses unlit gradient textures, low-poly models and distance based materials to create a dream-like environment. Above are examples of models I’ve made in Blender for the project.
The whale skeleton was procedurally animated using Blender. I applied a sine wave to every other vertebra and slightly offset each phase shift to create the wave-like movement along the Z axis. I also applied two additional sine waves to drive the X and Z rotation of the entire body to add more variation to the swim animation.
